ABOUT ME

Who am I ?

My name is Ricardo Marques, I'm 20 years old and I'm a web developer in training. I'm currently studying multilingual web communication in my first year of the CAWEB master's degree at the University of Strasbourg.

As a kid, I grew up in a multilingual environment and had to juggle between portuguese, french and english. I quickly gained interest in languages and how they work, eventually becoming a passion. I was particularly fond of the logic behind them - their syntaxes, grammars, morphologies, lexicons, etc - and how they built themselves using these elements, like a large puzzle with multiple types of pieces.

Naturally, that also got me interested in computers and other code-based technologies. At 12-years-old, I was a massive Minecraft fan and I used to modify the HTML and CSS of the official game website on my browser in order to make it display whatever I pleased. After that, my interest only got bigger and eventually led to me orienting my future career around web development, which I am currently studying in the CAWEB master's degree.

CAWEB ? What's that ?

The Multilingual Web Communication master's degree (CAWEB) is a versatile and professionalizing degree at the University of Strasbourg.

As a student, I was able to develop a portion of my web development skills, such as programming (HTML, CSS, JavaScript and PHP - which were crucial in the development of this website), Content Management Systems (WordPress and its plugins, most notably), databases (MySQL, phpMyAdmin), file transfers (FTP, SFTP) and SEO (as well as SMO).

I was also trained in other parts of digital communication, such as graphic design, project management, localization, UX/UI, wireframing, multimedia rights and audiovisual editing.
